The Community Summit (formerly TypeOneNation Summit) is free community event for anyone living with or caring for a person living with type 1 diabetes (T1D). Join your T1D community for a morning of support, education, and connection. You’ll hear a mission update from Dr. Jaime Giraldo, Breakthrough T1D associate director of research, participate in an interactive breakout session, and visit with device companies, camps, and others in the T1D Resource vendor hall. Whether you are family who is dealing with a new diagnosis, an adult who has lived with T1D for many years, a grandparent or caregiver, or a diabetes health care professional, there will be something for you! Admission is free, but advance registration is required.
Youth and Teen Program
Our Youth & Teen Program is open to kids with T1D and their siblings in grades K-12. Age-appropriate programming will include small group activities and games led by staff from Camp Holiday Trails, a performance from magician Jonathan Austin, and a visit with local author Sarah Glenn Marsh. Teen programming will also include crafts and activities, a reading from Sarah Glenn Marsh and the opportunity to ask questions about high school and college with T1D. Space is limited so please register early. Parents must remain on-site at the Summit as they will be contacted for diabetes management decisions as needed.
“Bolus & Banter” Adults Living with T1D Happy Hour
After the conclusion of the Summit from 12-2pm, adults who live with T1D are welcome to connect and network in the hotel bar and lobby as a part of our informal “Bolus and Banter” happy hour event series.
