Legislative Priorities
Every year, ChamberRVA advocates on behalf of our members, the business community and the region. We engage our region’s public and private sectors toward a common goal of creating prosperity for our communities and our residents. We work with elected officials on policy issues and initiatives that move our region forward.
Our member-driven advocacy is working to improve the region’s economy and quality of life.
Core focuses are:
- Talent Development: ChamberRVA supports policies that increase the availability of a talented workforce.
- Education and Childcare: ChamberRVA supports funding for early childhood, preK-12, CTE, work-based learning and post-secondary workforce programs.
- Economic Development: ChamberRVA supports investment in business-ready sites and policies that support business attraction, retention and growth.
- Infrastructure Investment: ChamberRVA supports investment in critical infrastructure, including transportation, ports, sewers, parks and broadband.
- Business Environment and Taxes: ChamberRVA supports policies that promote a positive business environment and a comprehensive tax system that equitably distributes economic burden among all taxpayers.
- Housing: ChamberRVA supports policies that increase housing opportunities at all income levels.
- Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: ChamberRVA supports policies that promote diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace and society at large.
- Public Safety: ChamberRVA supports policies that promote public safety for the benefit of all.
- Right to Work: ChamberRVA supports Virginia’s right to work law.
